FAQ
What is the warranty for custom orders?
Limited Lifetime Manufacturing Warranty & Sizing Policy
We take pride in the exceptional quality and craftsmanship of our fine jewelry. Every piece is meticulously designed and manufactured using premium materials. We stand behind our work and are pleased to offer a Limited Lifetime Manufacturing Warranty and a flexible initial sizing window on all our engagement rings and fine jewelry settings.
Complimentary Initial Resizing Policy
We want your ring to fit perfectly. We offer one (1) complimentary ring resizing.
After the initial resizing: If you request a resize after your first resizing, the service is no longer complimentary. The client is fully responsible for both the resizing fee and all insured round-trip shipping costs.
Important Sizing Note: Certain intricate designs, such as full eternity bands, heavily pavé-set shanks, or alternative metals, cannot be resized due to their structural layout.
What the Lifetime Warranty Covers
This warranty guarantees that your jewelry will be free from manufacturing defects in materials and craftsmanship for the lifetime of the original purchaser.
Our warranty strictly covers structural and manufacturing defects, including:
•Loose accent stones (diamonds/gems under 0.10 carats) resulting from a structural setting failure.
•Solder failure at joint connections or setting points.
•Porosity cracks or casting voids in the precious metal.
If a defect is confirmed by our master jewelers, SJ House of Jewelry will repair the item or, at our discretion, replace the piece at zero cost to you.
What is NOT Covered (Warranty Exclusions)
Our warranty is not a structural insurance policy or a wear and tear protection plan. Fine jewelry is made of precious metals and requires careful handling.
The following scenarios are strictly excluded from our manufacturing warranty:
•Theft, Loss, or Disappearance: This warranty does not cover a stolen, lost, or completely missing piece of jewelry.
•Loss of Center Stones: We do not cover the loss, chipping, or breakage of any center stone or focal gemstone. We highly recommend purchasing independent jewelry insurance (such as Jewelers Mutual or BriteCo) to protect against center stone loss or accidental damage. I use Jewelers Mutual for my engagement ring!
•Normal Wear and Tear: Everyday wear causes metal to scratch, satin finishes to smooth, and rhodium plating to wear off over time. These are natural material properties, not manufacturing flaws.
•Accidental Damage or Abuse: Bent bands, crushed prongs, sheared shanks, or warped settings resulting from impact, physical trauma, sports, gym usage, or accidental entrapment are not covered.
•Prong Thinning: Over years of wear, metal prongs naturally thin out from friction against clothing and bedding. Re-tipping or rebuilding worn prongs is considered routine maintenance and is not a manufacturing defect.
Actions That Instantly Void Your Warranty
To protect the structural integrity of your piece, our master jewelers must manage all structural modifications. Your lifetime warranty will be immediately and permanently voided if:
1. Any jeweler or workshop outside of SJ House of Jewelry, performs sizing, repairs, prong tightening, soldering, polishing, or any other modification on the piece.
2. The piece shows evidence of exposure to corrosive chemicals, extreme heat, or industrial environments.
How to Submit a Return for Service
Step 1: Digital Pre-Inspection
Do not ship your item to us without prior authorization. You must provide your original order number and upload three (3) high-resolution, clear photographs of the jewelry from different angles, highlighting the area of concern.
Step 2: Fully Insured Transit Deposit
If your digital request is provisionally approved for physical evaluation , we will issue a secure, fully insured FedEx shipping QR Code label through our system.
The customer is required to pay an upfront shipping and handling deposit ( price estimates on ring value) to cover the fully insured, secure round-trip transit.
For Warranty Claims: If a manufacturing defect is verified by our production team upon physical inspection, your shipping deposit will be 100% refunded, and your repair will be executed completely free of charge. If the damage is deemed a result of wear and tear or accidental impact, we will provide you with a transparent repair quote, and the deposit will be applied to return your ring securely.
Do you charge tax?
Currently, only Texas residents are charged sales tax.
How do custom orders work?
Our designer will work with you to build the perfect piece. Once a design is finalized, a $200 non-refundable deposit is required to secure the stones and 3D model. Upon approval, the remaining balance will be required to begin production.
How long do custom orders take?
It depends on the design process but typically 3-4 weeks.
